In Taliban Hands

Afghan War

Dominating the headlines as of this writing is news of the Taliban’s lightning reconquest of Afghanistan. The collapse of American neocons’ pet project in the lead up to the 20th anniversary of 9/11 once again shows that the Almighty has a robust sense of humor.

For some perspective, here is the situation on the ground:

Taliban Hands

These developments come mere days after Joe Biden gave one of the most retroactively humiliating press conferences in recent memory.

As for the region’s once and current rulers’ agenda:

On the Wrong Side

How did a ragtag bunch of hill people outlast the world’s only superpower?

The same way they always have: They maintained confidence in their culture, which fueled their determination to never give up.

The Z Man writes:

The big lesson is that the Washington regime never felt it necessary to subvert the culture of Afghanistan. Instead, they spent twenty years celebrating it. Sure, they did the superficial stuff like flying the flags of various sexual deviants over the embassy, but they never tried to impose it on the Afghans in the same was we see them do it to white Americans.

The Death Cultists’ false faith in diversity blinded them to the necessity of demoralizing the Afghan population to cement their occupation. On a level cultural playing field, the Cult’s moral vision proved inferior to Islam.

That is why the Death Cult and its Pop Cult acolytes have worked tirelessly for decades to sever the West from its Christian roots.

No moral vision can outshine that of Christianity, because only the Church teaches the fullness of Truth.

If a majority of Americans still possessed the full clarity of their Christian moral vision, they would have the resolve to conquer the Death Cult through spiritual warfare.

Learn well from the example of Afghanistan. A small, outnumbered and outgunned minority can defeat a materially superior enemy–but only if they have the strength of their convictions.

Few Americans have sufficient conviction to cancel Disney Plus and Netflix. Which makes it all the more urgent to stop funding people who hate you.

A very perceptive post. The Taliban’s moral vision is superior to the death cult but former pales to that of our Lord’s ministry death and resurrection.
The moral lesson for us cultivate a sense of detachment while recommitting ourselves to our religious roots and realigning with reality.

    • Not all Christian heresies are created equal.

It’s no surprise that the more of Christ’s teachings one keeps, the stronger it is.

        Brian,

Agreed. I’m discerning the lesson about this debacle. My unsophistiaced conclusions
        1) Fix our own house
        2) Develop a sense of detachment with a commitment to renew our convenant with God
        3) Recover what’s been lost
        4) Recultivate the virtues like temperance, prudence and humility
        5) Go on the counterattack. The death cultists are at their nadir and will lash out, but now is time to drive them out everywhere. It’ll be a long war and I won’t see the end but I can start the beginning.

        • It is not remotely time for 5. The Cult hasn’t reached its low point. It may have just passed its peak.

Step 1 is facing reality. We are not in a culture war. There was a culture war, and the Death Cult won.

Now is the time to take a step back, regroup, and cast off dead weight — essentially 1-4 above. That will probably take most of our lifetimes.

  2. This whole event might be the most pathetic thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life. The secondhand embarrassment would be poisonous if I had respect for the people in charge.

What a total and utter waste of time.

    • And, more importantly, a total waste of life.

But this is the legacy of soft-headed humanism in replacement of religion. It’s just nothing but failure after failure.

      • Rule #1 of totalitarian regimes: If you’re going to bully your own people, don’t make it impossible for them to be afraid of you.

Sure you have 20 years, 2400+ American lives, and billions of dollars in the latest military hardware wasted, but no more mean twits!

This shit show happened because the Taliban actually believe in something besides political power. They believe in that too, but they are (in their eyes) doing God’s work. It’s impossible for people who worship at the alter of Marx to understand such things.

    • Many Christians will be called to account on That Day for ever thinking we couldn’t beat these weaklings in a culture war.

I’ll save my breath for when Teddy Spaghetti defeats Google in a European court.

I pray that he does, of course.

I love how many of the governments of the Allies thought it would be a great idea to do nation building in Afghanistan. I still remember 9/11 and how I wanted revenge at 15, (I actually went to sign up but fail the hearing test). Now older I look and think how foolish the whole war has been. Many soldiers lost their lives, got severely wounded or mentally suffered. I knew of two that lost both their legs at 19. What a waste of young men lives and for what?

I remember how they should just sent in special forces take out the leaders of the terrioist attack and get out. This may not be revenge that many Americans wanted at the time but Justice. Revenge for the attack has lead to drone striking civilians (including a wedding), leaving a country with almost 2 decades of terror and taking resources.

Now some still have not learn and want the USA and other to go back in. I say we send the people screaming for war to the country instead of the young men.
