The Cult Knows Better

More Atheists

… Than Christians when it comes to the Bible, or so we’re repeatedly assured by the Death Cult.

More Atheists

The character of the smug atheist who can quote Scripture chapter and verse better than Christian rubes from central casting is a shopworn oldpub cliche. Neither the fact that it’s a dead meme nor that it’s an obvious lie stops the Death Cult from reciting it like a litany.

More Atheists

Their Twitter handles give their game away. No one blasphemes Thor, because no one believes in Thor. These two accounts aren’t nonbelievers rationally making their case for nonbelief. They’re proselytes beholden to a heretical offshoot of Christianity. They know that whoever holds the moral high ground wins, and they know damn well that Christian morality is the moral standard of the West.

That’s why the Death Cult can’t propose a moral vision truly distinct from Christianity. Instead, they must always try to present themselves as the legitimate arbiters of the Christian moral code.

This is why the Witch Test is not just effective, but 100% effective at identifying these wolves in sheep’s clothing.

Note that you don’t see Death Cultists claiming to know the Koran better than Muslims. That is because enough Muslims have shown themselves willing and able to exact a toll on those who insult Islam.

It’s a foreign concept to most people reading this post, but Christians were once willing and able to impose a cost–though more economic and social–for violating the moral traditions of the Church.

What happened? Christians in the West spent so long living among other Christians that our defenses atrophied–much like people who are never exposed to pathogens develop weak immune systems.

Now that the social and economic costs are being levied against Christians, lukewarm and nominal hangers-on are boiling off. Those who remain are like survivors of a plague–immune to the same attack. And the enemy has only one tactic.

The increasingly shrill–and yes, desperate–babbling from the Death Cult betrays their awareness of this dynamic. To their credit, they do have a base, animal sense of which way the wind is blowing which keeps them more in tune with the currents of social change than most Christians.

The tweets above, and the myriad others like it, don’t arise from triumphal gloating over a cornered foe. They are the nervous mutterings of inmates who are locked here with us in the civilization we built.

You can impose your own costs on the Death Cult. Don’t give money to people who hate you. Support Christian authors who want to entertain you. The first book in Glen Sprigg’s Cameron Vail Mysteries is now only 99 cents. Buy it now!

Wait. How did you know that Bible quote? I thought you were a Christian 😉

    • M. L. Martin

Well, I'm a Catholic, so depending on who you ask, I may or may not count. 🙂

    • Blume

Now now, it's not Catholics that don't count it's the catholic priest hood.

    • A Reader

My people are Anglo-Irish, with a hint of Welsh. If not for the Catholic priesthood, we'd still be worshiping rocks and trees and storm-clouds.

I had a witch pop up in twitter (first time for one of my threads!), and I really should have known it from the first, where it responded to "Fall on your knees and praise God!" with "I have knee problems."

I decided to respond to the words at face value. This was an error on my part because I could tell the snark coming through.

Don't worry. Witch hunting takes practice. And you were successful.

Recently I was following an account on Twitter that supposedly was a Christian and believed in the Bible(that's what he stated at least). I like to look into someone's timeline to get an idea what they were all about.

The first red flag was that in their description they had the following sentence: "Question Everything. Think critically." And he was true to this sentence because even though he purported to be Christian and believe in the words of the Bible, in his timeline he was frequently pocking holes into Christian twitter, constantly mocking "modern" Christians, rejecting the Catholic Church, reinterpreting scripture and acting as if all the great thinkers of the past 2000 years misunderstood the Bible but that he had the answers(another red flag). He even called God a psychopath for sending people into Hell.

Then I saw he had an encounter with YOU, Brian, over your thread where you discuss how Jesus was born on December 25. There was a back and forth between the two of you where he tried to pull a "gotcha" on you regarding what God said, the Old Testament, trusting everything Paul said, and conflated the Winter Solstice with December 25. He even said that nowhere in the Bible did Paul said we must observe the birth of Jesus Christ so that negated what you said… somehow. You eventually blocked him when it was clear he was purposefully misinterpreting you and looking to trap you.

I don't know if that person is an atheist in disguise, a protestant, a non-denominational Christian, or just a plain fraud, but I almost fell for their admittedly convincing arguments until I noticed the pattern of his arguments.

In general, anyone that constantly reinterprets what the Bible and Jesus Christ said is to be put under suspicion. I have my issues with the Catholic Church, but the idea that some wannabe on Twitter knows better than 2000 years of tradition and many Christian thinkers is an immediate red flag. These types are even more dangerous than the fedora tippers because they are genuinely knowledgeable about the Bible and are a lot more subtle.

Thank you for sharing. The only reason I bother interacting with cultists, witches, and heretics is to reveal them as false teachers so they won't lead others into error. Good to know it's working!

    • Constantin

You're welcome, and thanks as well for pointing out how to fight against these kinds of subversives.

Boomer atheism has the stink milk behind a radiator.

It's amazing so many people still bark and clap like seals over this sort of thing.

Ordered both of Glen Sprigg's books.

THANK YOU! I hope you like them. And, as Brian says, if you like it, leave a review. If you don't, a review is still good.

And thank you, Brian, for agreeing to promote them. It means a lot.

    • D.J. Schreffler

I got the first one and will try it out.

Many thanks to my readers for giving a new author a chance.

As for praising me, give God the glory!

Per Constantin's post, a tip-off about your "Christian Expert" will be that he appears to have INT 15, but has a WIS 4. Classic tell of gamma sperg disruption plant.

    • M. L. Martin

Yes, well, the same could be said about some of us real Christians. Or to put it another way, "I resemble that remark." 🙂

    • Man of the Atom

We'll tend to have more of the WIS 9 or 10 (my observations) and fewer rank disagreements with Christian philosophers and Church Fathers. But, yes, we need to be constantly yanking cellulose accumulation out of our own ocular receptors.

The definitive tell was that he kept appealing to Paul while while violating 1 Corinthians 1:12-13.

    • Zaklog the Great

I was just tonight attempting to argue with an atheist on one of my YouTube videos. I gave up and blocked him when he said “Meanwhile religion DOES require murder.” Did you know you’re a bad Christian for not having murdered anyone? I must have missed that Sunday school lesson.

The sheer idiocy of some of these people, accompanied by their pretensions of moral and intellectual superiority, is astounding.

    • Brian Niemeier

      Yes, it does.

Point out that they don't have a moral leg to stand on, block, and ignore.

    • wreckage

In a strictly materialist worldview, there's no such thing as murder. First, because it's not different from any other animal, but critically, because it requires INTENT, which, neuro-materialistically, does not exist.

    • Brian Niemeier

By the same token, neither does knowledge, which requires an immaterial mind upon which immaterial truths can be impressed.

Some additional witch test questions for atheists:

    1) how are atheists more respectful of the Bible when you regard it a fairy tales of a sky dad?
    2) do atheists know and respect the Koran more than Moslems?

    • A Reader

How many atheists have a collection of old Bibles that are too fragile to use but too precious to discard?

    • Brian Niemeier

      1) Isn't a Witch Test question. It's an attempt to use dialectic against atheists' dishonest rhetoric.
      2) Is a better rhetorical response of the kind often seen on Twitter ("Now do Islam"). It's not a Witch Test, though.
The Test for Death Cultists who are trying to co-opt Christian morality is challenging them to profess faith in Christ. That's it.
