Witch Test Still Inerrant

Witch Test Still Inerrant

Meanwhile, on Twitter …

Grime Knight

Once you understand the heretical creed of the Death Cult and learn to recognize their ritual cant and other verbal tics, knowing when to apply the Witch Test is easy. The strictures of their code do the rest. As members of an anti-Christian secular religion, death cultists can no more profess faith in Jesus Christ on the record than a devout Hindu can slaughter a sacred cow.

If you’re wondering what Grime Knight’s tweet refers to, here’s the context. Members of a horror review group called Sci-fi & Scary tried to give author Jon DelArroz the dirt shoulder.

Their submission guidelines include this tidbit:

unbiased reviews

One of Sci-Fi & Scary’s members defended this admittedly biased policy and prefaced her defense by claiming to be Christian. Ring any bells?

This not being my first rodeo, I discerned a duty to examine the scene for witches.

Nico Bell

Nico Bell 2

Result: a hodgepodge of squishy therapeutic deism with no mention of the Name of Jesus.

Correction: There were two results:

Sci-Fi & Scary Block

Now, to get newcomers up to speed, am I necessarily suspect everyone I give the Witch Test to of practicing the Black Arts? No.

Do I think it likely that they’re more or less beholden to a Christ-hating death cult that’s subject to demonic influence. Most certainly.

And lest anyone is tempted to chime in with, “They’re biased against all religions equally, so it’s OK,” please rein in your urge to white knight for people who hate you.

  • Anti-Christian prejudice is evil.
  • Western horror is derived directly from the Catholic folklore tradition.

I confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and that God has raised Him from the dead.

I typed in the above half expecting a lightning bolt to crash through my window or part of the ceiling to fall in. But nothing happened.

I am not yet fallen, not beyond hope.

    • Brian Niemeier

      Thanks be to God.

  2. D.J. Schreffler

I confess that Jesus is my Lord and savior. That God raised him from the dead.

May I always confess this with boldness and joy.

    • Brian Niemeier

      Amen!

  3. M. Bibliophile

I confess that Jesus is the Christ, the son of God, sent to redeem mankind. For our sins He was crucified and rose from the dead on the third day, in accordance with the Scriptures.

Still redeemable despite my track record, praise God.

    • Brian Niemeier

Jesus is indeed the Christ, the only Son of God, whom the Father has raised from the dead.

      Peace be with you.

  4. A Reader

I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior when I was seven. I had to wait until I was eight to be baptized because our congregation was still building the sanctuary. It took a while to acquire a pre-owned baptistry.
Jesus Christ is Lord. He is risen indeed, and sits at the right hand of God the Father. Worthy is the Lamb Who was slain.

    • Brian Niemeier

Thank you for your testimony. May Our Lord acknowledge you before His Heavenly Father.

I confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, and that God raised him from the dead on the third day.

      Alleluia, alleluia.

Is it a bit odd that a horror review site forbids references to the supernatural?

PS: Jesus is Christ, and God raised him from the dead; he will return in glory!

    • Brian Niemeier

      In reverse order:

      1) Amen!

      2) You should've see the REEEEEing from the goony neckbeard crowd on Twitter when I pointed out that Western horror owes its existence to the Catholic tradition.

  7. A Reader

On a side note, "I believe people of all faiths can work together, grow and support each other" isn't hardly in the ballpark of "I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of the sins, The resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting."
It is truly sad how much of what was once Christendom has exchanged the Gospel of Christ for the Gospel of Nice.

    • Brian Niemeier

The Gospel of Nice is one of the chief forms taken by modern witchery.

    • A Reader

Do you mean that literally, as in witchcraft and occult practices? I ask because I would have classified the Gospel of Nice as a particularly insidious form of universalism – one to which even folks who go to real churches and call themselves Christian might fall prey if they never really learned to discern the faith from things designed to mimic it and lead us astray.

    • Brian Niemeier

Most of them probably aren't playing with ouija boards and sacrificing chickens. None of them know that their heresy is influenced by the Father of Lies, but they serve his ends all the same.

As another reader told me, heretics like Nico Bell probably don't think twice about their aversion to saying Jesus' name in public. It's an aversion to holy things nonetheless.

  8. Bellomy

In my area there was a Protestsnt church that sold the building to muslims, and the pastor was preaching that it was a good thing since it was at least still a place of worship.

It made me sick. Talk about selling out Christ for mammon.

"But they would have been forced to sell to them anyway!"

Then accept the consequences and make the government do it. Are you Christians or not?

    • Brian Niemeier

      Salvini had it right.

"Not one mosque. Not half a mosque!"

  9. Careless Whisper

I just looked that site over. It really set me off.

How DARE anything that purports to be horror be so nauseatingly …precious?! No wonder their anti-religion policy is in place! These people know God and the Devil, heaven and hell, objective right and wrong are baked into the cake. They just prefer to eat a different cake, namely fake "fandom" grey goo that isn't actually scary. The cutey-pud space kraken says it all. Hot Topic goth tier. These people are a pox.

Oh and who knew, they want to influence the genre according to their own tastes. Eek. News flash, that won't happen! Horror is the last outpost for average joes who want entertainment that does what it says it does on the box. Ha, in these sunset years of Western Christendom, the real life horror is too clearly apparent for some counterfeit to rustle anyone's jimmies. You can't force feed people that Studio A24 crap! That ain't horror! That's NPR-or!

    • Brian Niemeier

As r-selected rabbits, these people are in a constant state of low-grade panic. They're convinced Putin is hiding under the bed. They can have no idea what scares normal people.

    • Careless Whisper

Jimmy lay awake in the darkness, paralyzed by a cold, numbing fear.
His parents hadn't believed him. His teacher hadn't listened to him. His friends all thought he was crazy. But he WASN'T crazy, no! Not that it mattered now.
He listened as the clock down the hall sonorously chimed out ten, then eleven, and finally, midnight! He took a deep, shuddering breath and waited.

      He didn't wait long.

"Dobryj vyechyer, little boy," whispered a soft, Slavic voice. "Don't you think it would be wise to withdraw troops from Syria…?"

  14. Frank Luke

I was ten (almost eleven) when I repented and prayed for forgiveness at Falls Creek Jr. Camp. That was when I first confessed that Jesus Christ is Lord and God has raised Him from the dead on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. I have never backed down from that.

    • Brian Niemeier

Praise God for the graces of repentance and perseverance!

  17. Glen Sprigg

I confess that Jesus is the Son of God, was raised from the dead on the third day, and is really disappointed in me so far. But I'm working on that last part.

    • Brian Niemeier

      I will pray for you.

    • Glen Sprigg

Thank you; prayers are always helpful.
