In sharp contrast to PS2-era webcomics that have shambled on well past their expiry date, the wiser curators of another Gen Y nostalgia brand knew when their moment had passed.
Paradoxically, knowing when to dial it back has made Matthew and Michael Chapman’s sporadic release of new material a delightful surprise.
Here’s “No-stalgia” the latest from Homestar Runner universe emo band Sloshy. You’ll find the subject matter couldn’t be more timely.
Not directly to the topic, but to the marketing hustle;
Idea Contagion Tracking: RPGPundit clearly and carefully enunciates "Don't buy product… from people… who hate you." in his latest video. It wasn't a coincidental wording, he stated it very much as an aphorism.
*nods* I've been getting similar reports about various pop culture and dissident streams/podcasts. The message is getting out, which it couldn't if not for readers like you.
After your last paragraph, I don’t see anything but your add for the latest book. Is a link missing for No-Stalgia?
Home Star Runner. Good times. Double Duce and the Cheat is Grounded.
It's an embedded video, here is the link: https://youtu.be/5GU92Y7jXCE
Thank you.
Thank you
That song is unironically great.
All of the Chapman bros' joke bands produced music that beats anything the major labels have put out for years. Sloshy is consistently one of their best acts.
Isn't the entire Disney/Marvel/Star Wars multimedia empire currently built on Nostalgia?
That would explain an awful lot.
Even more insidious than that, Disney's empire is a trap that uses Marvel and Star Wars nostalgia as bait.
If they actually delivered on the nostalgia at least you'd have fanservice.
They're counting on the nostalgia to cloud your recognition that they're providing something completely different wearing a skin suit of the product you loved.
Precisely right.
