General Notes

One year after Kazoku War ace Zane Dellister went missing in action over Megami’s asteroid base Metis, Coalition Secretary-General Prem Naryal discovered his infamous Dead Drop combat frame within the Kazoku-occupied experimental colony Block 101.Naryal ordered Dead Drop taken to the Paris Academy of Sciences for study. There, her technicians found that the black CF held two startling secrets: the Kazoku had somehow upgraded the already formidable unit into an XSeed, and its notorious pilot was still alive, preserved in a jury rigged cryostasis pod.

Seeing a means of defusing the perceived threat of a resurgent Neue Deutschland on her husband Jean-Claude’s border, Naryal revived Zane and convinced him that newly crowned German Emperor Tod Ritter had left him to die in space. Zane immediately blasted off for New Ramstein in his XSeed to avenge himself.

Naryal’s plan initially proceeded without a hitch as Dellister tore through Neue Deutschland’s defenders, including several Grenzmark II squads He bested Wehrbund Bavaria’s custom Kurfürst CF in a duel and quickly gained the upper hand against Ritter’s own Grenzmark III.

Regicide was narrowly averted by the sudden appearance of Nouvelle French monarch Jean-Claude du Lione in his CCF-09V-2 Veillantif Kai. But Jean-Claude made the mistake of attempting to subdue his crazed friend rather than defeat him. Their battle left Veillantif critically damaged and the XSeed Dead Drop apparently unopposed.

To Zane’s shock, Ritter launched a renewed offensive. Taking advantage of the damage inflicted on Dead Drop in its series of prior duels–as well as his own bold fighting style–Ritter dealt the black XSeed its first defeat with his battered Grenthree.

The two old friends turned enemies were given no time to reconcile, as Naryal activated her backup plan to assassinate Ritter. In response, the Prometheus A.I. carried within the Grenthree’s systems detonated one of New Ramstein’s nuclear warheads.

Though the XSeed Dead Drop was lost to the nuclear fire, many of its key design concepts would resurface 40 years later in the XCD-102 XSeed Emancipator.

Brian Niemeier’s calling card is non stop action, and he delivers again. He crammed as many cool mechs blowing each other to pieces as he could into a exciting and fast-paced story!

To be fair, Prem Naryal was correct about the threat Neue Deutschland posed–to the Coalition, not to Nouvelle France.

Also the XSeed aesthetic is far better than the Grenzmark.

And wow, the Kurfürst was able to significantly damage that before it was disabled!

Potential BaM backers: your mech may not win its fight, but it will do what no other mech can in that fight. And it will be glorious.

And these kind of shenanigans are why the Systems Overterrestrial Coalition needs to be destroyed.

Naryal's casus belli of ND being a threat to NF was always just a fig leaf–even if she fooled no one but herself.

The reasons you stated are why everyone loves the Kurfürst 🙂
