Mask Slip

Biden Retreat

By now, most normal people have tuned out the constant stream of doom and gloom blaming everything from soaring suicide rates to chip shortages on the coronavirus.

What gets lost in the shuffle is that most of the systemic failures shaking Western society to its foundations aren’t attributable to the virus, not directly. They’re fallout from the concerted institutional response to the virus.

For almost two years, we’ve been tossed about in a swirling cycle of lies propagated by the the federal and state governments and their private sector partners.

  • Two weeks to flatten the curve
  • It’s just until ICUs get the manpower and equipment to keep from being overrun.
  • Make that until the vaccine is out
  • We meant until most people are vaccinated
  • But you’re not fully vaccinated until you’ve had two shots
  • And a booster
  • Plus a second booster

And who could forget

  • Masks don’t work.
  • Actually they do, we just told a white lie to make sure hospitals get supplies.
  • Never mind, they really don’t help.
  • Except now they do.

The answer is that most people forgot all of the declarations, retractions, and contradictions above. Because none of it was meant to keep people informed and healthy. The point was to keep everyone in a constant state of cognitive dissonance, the better to demoralize them.

Another round of gaslighting began this week, when just after our betters announced the appearance of Corona-chan’s latest final form, they pulled another heel turn to declare that cloth masks don’t work, and the pandemic can’t be solved at the federal level.

Lots of folks on social media are celebrating this apparent reversal. They should be cautious about getting their hopes up. Our demented rulers have no incentive to stop playing mind games. They’ve run this play before–loosening restrictions, only to impose another sudden crackdown.

Pray, and get ready for chaos.

  1. By next year, they have two options. Go harder and risk losing everything, or soften and backpedal while pretending they are maintaining course. It’s increasingly looking like they are going for the second option. They’ve found the perfect balance between fear-mongering and scapegoating others. They’re a cowardly lot at heart, so they’ll definitely go with that.

As for me, I think this video will best sum up this madness for years to come. I’m definitely not going to forget any of this, or the people in charge who tried to stomp their boots on others’ necks.

    • The most valuable lesson of the past two years has been the exposure of Late Modern “free-thinkers” as utter lemmings controllable by even the clumsiest social engineering.

No wonder the Cult works so feverishly to crush any dissident who gains a following. Imagine if one of our guys gained access to the real levers of power.

Is everyone else psyched for vaccines “as a service?” At least the vaccines aren’t being updated into oblivion like computer games.

“Solved at the state level” seems like a weasel worded play to make local government do the Feds’ dirty work. Of course, they could just be deflecting responsibility for abject failure and impotence.

      • It’s just another phase of the psyop. Biden announced new federal measures just days after saying federal measures won’t work.

These people lie as a matter of course.

I’ve been spending a lot of time with older relatives over the holidays and with the boomer-tier that always means the TV is on in the background, especially for the news (even if it’s the 9 o’clock news and they already watched the 4 and 6 o’clock news.)

For something like a decade I’ve only gotten my local news through websites, which are obnoxious enough. Seeing what the TV version is like now really was an eye opener.

1.) At least 50% of every program is devoted to COVID programming. Each and every day, regardless of what else is happening.

2.) The lies are more shameless than I expected, and my expectations were low. “If you get vaccinated, it’s impossible for you to get sick,” “mutations are only possible because not everyone has gotten vaccinated,” “kids are being put at risk by being in school,” etc. (Okay, maybe that last one’s true but not for the reasons they state.)

3.) Many of the segments practically run like Pfizer commercials. Not only is coverage limited almost entirely to their vaccines and their new “treatment” but the company is name dropped repeatedly. For extra fun, there is often an actual Pfizer commercial leading off the break, in case you doubted who was paying the bills.

I mean, I have kind of known that most people are NPCs for a year now (though in my internal monologue I use Terry Davis’s terminology.) But I hadn’t really appreciated the sheer volume of the propaganda, nor its blatant nature. And of course this is just the local news, there are plenty of other avenues through “fact checks,” celebrity statements, storylines of woke entertainment, etc.

The biggest takeaway is how absurd bowtie conservatives are for thinking that a structured, logical debate would change the opinions of the masses, going up against all of that.

Brian Niemeier will know that he’s hit the big leagues when the mainstream news finally fact-checks him. All that will remain is a feature-length documentary against him by a YouTube sceptic (TM).

I have had very similar experiences myself. When I questioned the accuracy of the COVID test numbers, my relatives could only respond with a scornful, conversation-ending “ah come on”, which means “you’re being ridiculous, get some common sense!”. It’s frustrating, but I am trying to pray for them instead of being angry.

    • I’d bet the Venn overlap between ‘people who don’t watch TV’ and ‘people who haven’t lost their minds’ is considerable.

      • Howard Beale warned us. Make me FCC Chairman, and I’ll have every TV addict in America homeschooling and praying rosaries within two weeks.

I just got reminded of something which illustrates the power of the memory hole:

Remember double masking? Around February/March all the health officials and news outlets started pushing hard for the idea of using two cloth masks. If you search through news articles you can find right where the push happened. Fauci, of course, talked about how it was only “common sense” to wear two masks.

This was roundly mocked, even by a good subset of liberals. It was hard not to mock it, considering that double masking had a common parodic argument for months before that. We had tons of conservative sites talking about how this was the point where things would finally get too absurd for people to take the health officials seriously. And indeed they did back off on this absurdity, but they did so simply by ceasing to talk about it and moving on to other ways to spread the panic.

At this point, did you even remember the double masking push until I mentioned it? The only reason I remembered it is seeing someone on another site bring it up in passing. There was no net negative effect on the credibility of the “experts.”

I’ll do one better. Before April 2020, it was so Sinophobic to even mention the virus that YouTube enacted a policy against it. Trump’s surgeon general was also telling people that the flu would kill more of them that year than the coronavirus—hence the need for the flu vaccine—and my own colleagues were assuring me that the virus was “just pneumonia.”

And I asked myself, “The flu—which an emaciated guy like me can ride out with a warm bath and a box of EmergenC—is so deadly that we need to vaccinate ourselves before we sneeze on our children and kill them, but the coronavirus is ‘just pneumonia?'”
