Neopatronage Ascendant

Amaranth Angels

Big news broke in the indie comics world this week as the upcoming manga Amaranth Angels met its ambitious funding goal.

The brainchild of Ascendant Fiction writer Yakov Merkin and artist Philip San Gaspar, this sci fi adventure features all you could ever want …

Cute girls in space.

From the Webtoon description:

Saya Nishizawa is a starfighter pilot prodigy, from a family of ace pilots. Flying alongside her big sister in the Amaranth Angels performance squadron, she’s distinguished herself and helped the squadron win one competition after another. Things were going perfectly for her. But life can change in an instant. Amaranth Angels: Wilted Flower is the prologue of the full first volume of the Amaranth Angels manga, coming to Kickstarter this spring!

And it came to Kickstarter. And kicked ass!

Hearty congratulations to Yakov and Philip. They took a massive risk to take neopatronage to a new level.

And level up they did.

Having just concluded my mecha anime-inspired space epic Combat Frame XSeed, It warms the cockles of my black heart to see fellow newpub creators evolve other Eastern genres with Western storytelling techniques – in entirely new media.

It goes to show yet again that even in times of economic uncertainty, audiences will find and back art that scratches their entertainment itch.

If you’re itching for dark fantasy with the grit of A Game of Thrones but an already written ending, my next adventure novel features an epic story with a deep bench of characters whose fates interweave in a devastating tapestry. Back the project now to get the book before launch, and get my acclaimed Soul Cycle eBooks today! That’s just for starters, since we’ve got a wealth of sweet perks like signed books, T-shirts, and one last chance to write yourself into the legend!

So act fast. Back The Burned Book now:

  1. Amaranth Angels? Somehow, that goes against the grain… 😀

  2. Anti-Rationalist

I remember getting bummed out when Richard Fox didn’t meet his Kickstarter goal for Ember War Vol. 2 (Graphic Novel).

I don’t think I’ve seen any NewPub crowdfund fail to hit it’s target since then. More often, they either hit or exceed it.

    Massive improvement.
