SLC Geek!

Geek Gab

Last night, friends of the blog Daddy Warpig and Dorrinal invited me back on the venerable Geek Gab livestream. It had been a while since we’d last gotten together for a lively chat about pop culture subjects, so I was glad for the invite. The hosts, the live chat and I had a fun time, and it’s got me thinking that I should make return appearances more often.

The topics of discussion ranged from – to my surprise – the Utah brew ‘n’ view scene, in particular a place called Brewvies in SLC, to which all three of us have been, despite living in far-flung corners of the country.

In a departure from the norm, our conversation turned to the Work-a-Weapon perk offered through the crowdfunder for my next novel The Burned Book. Dorrinal was in fact the first backer to claim it, and our impromptu promo for the perk turned into us building his custom magic weapon together live on-stream.

To find out just what kind of worked weapon Geek Gab cohost Dorrinal and I came up with, watch the new episode:

If nothing else, you can always count on Dorrinal to make my work harder in all the best ways.

On the subject of WaWs, with backer permission I put out the call on social media to crowdsource names for Work-a-Weapon 2.

Without further ado, the winning name is …

Soul Razor
Soul Razor

A saber whose aspect changes depending on the wielder’s virtue. But is the dark or the light blade sharper?

Thanks to our gracious patrons, and to all of the imaginative folks who suggested sword names. So far we’re 2 for 2 in terms of WaW awesomeness, and Dorrinal’s entry is sure to keep our streak going.

Claim your own place in the Arkwright Armory of Awesome. Back the Book at the Work-a-Weapon tier, and realize the magic weapon of your dreams in The Burned Book.

Only 2 WaWs remain, so don’t wait till they’re gone. Pledge now!
